Upgrade to 7.07
Version 7.07 has several benefits over earlier versions, namely:
The following instructions can be used to upgrade Canal Planner from version 7.00, 7.01, 7.02, 7.03 & 7.04 to 7.07. If you have a version of Canal Planner which is 7.05 or later you should be able to upgrade using Update Wizard.
- Improved activation process which removes the need to contact us when you have purchased a new PC, rebuilt your PC etc
- Rework of routing data meaning that routes are calculated quicker
- Routing errors around the BCN and the Fens have been fixed
- Improved route dividing options
The following instructions can be used to upgrade Canal Planner from version 7.00, 7.01, 7.02, 7.03 & 7.04 to 7.07. If you have a version of Canal Planner which is 7.05 or later you should be able to upgrade using Update Wizard.
- Download the software from the following link. Please note that the download is approx 320MB and could take a while to download dependant on the speed of your internet connection etc. It is not recommended downloading this on anything other than broadband.
http://dl.getdropbox.com/u/2228139/cp7.exe - Once downloaded, you are advised to burn this file to a CD as this is now effectively your new Canal Planner 7 disk. Storing it will prevent having to re-download the file should your computer crash and need a rebuild etc.
- Before installing the software, you will need to uninstalled your current version of the software first.
Please note that installing this software is like installing a fresh installation, it will not remember any routes, data changes & photos which you may have in your current software. - Once you have installed the software, run Canal Planner from your Start Menu, Programs, Canal Planner.
- Click activate (not Continue with the trial)
- Before continuing the activation process, you should go to http://www.canalplanner.com/convert/ enter your old codes and email address and click the button. This will issue you with a new set of codes which will work with the downloaded version.
Please note that if you have Canal Planner installed on more than one computer you will need to upgrade both together as your old license codes will cease to work following the conversion in the step above. - When you run the activated version of Canal Planner for the first time, you should be told that there are updates available, click yes to download them and download and apply all updates using Update Wizard.
Note: you may need to configure your personal firewall / internet security software to allow update wizard to communicate over the internet. - You should now be fully updated to the latest software and data available.
